Shakhtar hosted Dynamo in the central fixture of the 12th round of the youth championship

Shakhtar youth team head coach Oleksii Bielik fielded the following starting line-up: Bahlai took his place between the sticks, Strilchuk and Reshetnikov appeared at full-back, Harabazhii and Mylokost formed the centre-back pairing, Smetana, Tiutiunov and Tsukanov operated in midfield, Ryan and Harmash started on the wings, with Kanteh leading the line.

Costly defensive mistakes and no response

The match began with a dangerous long-range shot under the crossbar from Supriaha, which Bahlai reacted to in a diving save. The opponents then battled for possession, and the next chance came again near the goal of the Orange-and-Blacks when Pashko, moving closer to the edge of the penalty arc, tested Bahlai’s alertness with a shot. The host team responded with their own chance: Ryan entered the penalty area and struck from under a defender, with Kanteh being the first to follow up on the rebound. However, Surkis came to the rescue for the Kyiv side on both occasions. The White-and-Blues eventually gained the territorial advantage and looked for ways into the final third, frequently resorting to long-range efforts. In the 29th minute, there was a highly dangerous opportunity after a one-two between Osypenko and Redushko, but the post saved the Miners from conceding. However, the next attack by the Kyiv team was successful: Bekerskyi found Supriaha with a direct pass, the latter then beat the defenders, went one-on-one and opened the scoring. It did not take long for Dynamo U21 to double their lead: Pashko got plenty of space around him, took aim and hit the bottom corner with a long-range shot. Towards the end of the first half, the Orange-and-Blacks moved the ball into their opponents’ half, but they were unable to narrow the gap.

An attempt to fight back

After the break, Oleksii Bielik made a triple substitution, fielding Zubrii, Petruk and Kostiuk. The second half started with a quick goal from the Orange-and-Blacks. Tsukanov was brought down in the penalty area of the Kyiv side, for which the referee awarded a penalty kick, and Viktor himself stepped up and converted it. The next scoring opportunity arose in the 69th minute when Zubrii threaded the ball to Tiutiunov; the latter reached a dangerous distance from the goal, but Surkis closed the gap in time and averted the threat. Just three minutes later, Tsukanov came close to securing a brace and levelling the score, but the post saved the opponents. For their part, the White-and-Blues did not retreat into their own half and continued to pose a threat to Bahlai’s goal. In the 81st minute, Shakhtar U21 made a double substitution aimed at strengthening their attack: Tverdokhlib and Chornenkyi entered the pitch. Towards the end of the match, Liusin set up Supriaha in front of goal with a pass, and despite Mylokost’s attempt to intercept, the forward managed to find the back of the net, restoring a two-goal lead for the Kyiv team.

1-3 – Shakhtar U21 lost to Dynamo U21. Oleksii Bielik’s side will play their next match in the youth championship after the international break – on November 21 against Livyi Bereh U21.
