Shakhtar women’s team hosted Pantery in the Prime League round 12 in Shchaslyve

Head coach of the Orange-and-Blacks Roman Zaiev selected the following starting lineup for the game against Pantery: Ustinova was in goal; Kotovets, Balatska, Henyk and Sikorska operated in defence, Veherych, Starukhina and Myronenko formed the midfield, Holovach and Mokhnach played on the attacking flanks, with Marchenko leading the line.

A tense half with chances at both ends

Shakhtar women’s team took control of the ball right from the start and were the first to create a goal-scoring opportunity – Veherych’s shot was blocked. Pantery did not play defensively and tried to threaten Ustinova’s goal from set pieces, but to no avail. In the 13th minute, Veherych had a chance to open the scoring after a spectacular shot with an unusual trajectory, but the ball hit the crossbar. In response, the Uman side launched a promising counterattack with a powerful strike by Tykhonova, but Ustinova had the situation under control and reacted in time. In the 25th minute, the Miners took the lead: following a corner, the ball deflected off Kabanova into her own net. Later, the hosts established possession and tried to play combinations near the final third, having a territorial advantage. Pantery, however, defended reliably, and Myronenko had the only chance before the break, when she made a powerful long-range shot but missed the target.

Impactful substitution

Pantery started the second half aggressively, creating numerous opportunities to level the score. First, Tykhonova tried to curl the ball from the flank into the far corner, Ustinova dived to turn it for a corner, from which Roshka headed the ball just centimetres over the crossbar. Shakhtar players withstood the pressure and managed to level the game. In the 64th minute, the Orange-and-Blacks made a substitution aimed at strengthening their attack – Druzhchenko entered the field. A few minutes later, Holovach had a scoring chance with a long-range shot under the crossbar, but Ustinova reacted with a diving save. The pressure from Shakhtar intensified minute by minute; Veherych had an opportunity to extend the lead, but her shot was blocked. In the closing stages, the Miners finally managed to turn their efforts into a goal: Veherych sliced through the opponents’ defence with a pass over the top, setting up Druzhchenko for a shot, and she took her chance and sealed the match.
