The defenders of Mariupol and their families met in Kyiv as part of the Among Your Own project
A family day for the defenders of Mariupol and their families was held in Kyiv as part of the Among Your Own project. Participants and their families spent time together in a friendly atmosphere, while a separate part of the event focused on peer-to-peer post-traumatic growth. The event was attended by Director of the Heart of Azovstal NGO Tetiana Maltseva, Director of Shakhtar Social CO Andrii Babeshko and post-traumatic growth coach Oleksandr Didur.
Oleksandr Didur, post-traumatic growth coach:
– I know that sport is a source of strength. It helps overcome the effects of PTSD as we release accumulated negative energy during training. For us, it is extremely important to develop veterans’ football, involve our fellow veterans, come together, play sport and achieve victories and success together.
Over the past few months, the defenders of Mariupol living in Kyiv have been taking part in the project’s activities in the capital, and 15 veterans have now joined the Kyiv community of Among Your Own.
Oleksandr Didur, post-traumatic growth coach:

The Among Your Own project has been running in Dnipro for the third year in cooperation with Shakhtar Social and the Heart of Azovstal NGO, bringing together the defenders of Mariupol and their families through sport and shared leisure activities. Regular football training sessions, various family events, joint match screenings and trips to Shakhtar games take place As part of the initiative. With the expansion of the project, it is now also possible to hold meetings in Kyiv.
