Shakhtar faced Oleksandriia away in the U19 National League round 11

Shakhtar U19 head coach Maksym Malyshev named the following starting line-up for the match against Oleksandriia U19: Stepanov took his place in goal, Nevmerzhytskyi, Harabazhii, Koman and Onishchuk played in defence, Trokhym, Hul and Kots formed the midfield, Zheliba and Sheleketa operated on the wings, with Bida leading the line.

Counter-attacking football

The teams made a cautious start, showing little urgency as they sized each other up. The hosts were slightly more active and enjoyed more possession, but they struggled to create any clear-cut chances to test Stepanov. In the 21st minute, Hruzyn cut inside from the flank and fired from a promising position, sending the ball on an awkward trajectory for the Pitmen’s goalkeeper, but he produced a diving save to keep his side in the game. Having played their way out of defence, the Orange-and-Blacks launched a well-worked attacking move that ended with Hul heading home from Sheleketa’s delivery to make it 0-1. After taking the lead, the Miners grew more confident in possession and could have doubled their advantage before half-time. Trokhym split the Citizens’ defence with a pass to put Bida through in a dangerous position, but Titarenko was equal to the effort.

Omelchenko punished a defensive error

The second half began with the hosts finding the net: After a cross from the flank, Vlasiuk’s shot was blocked by Nevmerzhytskyi, but Omelchenko reacted quickest to the rebound and restored parity with a first-time finish. Omelchenko threatened Stepanov’s goal again moments later, but this time his long-ranger sailed over the crossbar. Oleksandriia U19 stepped up the pressure, winning possession and looking to reach the final third as quickly as possible. Horbatov found himself in a shooting position, but sent his effort straight into Stepanov’s hands. As the match approached its conclusion, both sides raised the tempo and played with greater urgency, but neither managed to create any further chances, and the score remained unchanged.

1-1 – Shakhtar U19 shared the points with Oleksandriia U19 away from home. In the next round, on October 28, the Miners will host their Livyi Bereh counterparts in Shchaslyve.
