Match build-up
The Orange-and-Blacks had a difficult start to their UEFA Youth League campaign, heading into the match against Inter U19 after defeats to PSV U19 (0-1) and AEK U19 (1-2). Between their European fixtures, Oleksii Bielik’s side beat Kolos U21 in domestic competition (2-0) before travelling to Italy the following day, leaving them with little time to prepare for this important encounter.
Opponents
Inter U19 drew with Club Brugge U19 (1-1) after losing to Real Madrid U19 (0-3) in the opening round of the UEFA Youth League. Having taken the lead through Cristian Carrara after just 26 seconds, the Milan side conceded late in the match and have one point after two rounds.
In domestic competition, Emiliano Bigica’s side, who he took charge of in the summer, have gone unbeaten in all 7 matches and lead Primavera 1 with 15 points (4 wins and 3 draws). In their most recent fixtures, they beat Monza (3-2) and drew with Como (2-2) and Lazio (2-2).
It is worth noting that Inter compete in the UEFA Youth League at U19 level, while in the Italian league the team are represented at U20 level.
Match background
The sides have met twice in the UEFA Youth League, with Inter winning on both occasions.
