Shakhtar women’s team faced Seasters away in the Prime League round 13
Roman Zaiev, head coach of Shakhtar women’s team, chose the following starting line-up for the match against Seasters: Ustinova took her place in goal, Sikorska, Henyk, Balatska and Kotovets formed the defence; Starukhina, Kuksa and Myronenko played in midfield; Mokhnach and Holovach operated on the attacking flanks, with Veherych leading the line.
An eventful game with opportunities for both teams
The Odesa side started the match actively and looked for chances near Ustinova’s goal, but they struggled to produce any clear-cut efforts. Instead, the Orange-and-Blacks, having withstood the initial pressure, managed to advance into Seasters' half, although without posing any significant threat to the goal once again. In the 23rd minute, following a sustained attack, Starukhina fired a powerful long-range shot, but it went wide. In the next attack, Samson’s goal was threatened by Holovach, who beat Churikova and Kozub on the flank, reached a shooting position and struck – just wide of the post. During the final minutes of the first half, Seasters played with more intensity. First, Tkachuk shot on target from a tight angle, Ustinova made a save, but the next attempt, resulting from a defensive error, was successful – Kalinina gave the Odesa side a lead.
Seeking a chance to bounce back
After the break, Shakhtar head coach Roman Zaiev made a substitution aimed at strengthening the attacking potential of the team: Marchenko replaced Kuksa. The second half began with a dangerous opportunity for Tkachuk, who went to meet Ustinova after a through ball but failed to beat goalkeeper. Later, Shakhtar made a double substitution, bringing on Druzhchenko and Zolotukhina. The opponents took turns possessing the ball, but the Odesa side reached the final phase of attacks more frequently, doubling their lead in the 66th minute. On the right flank, Colmenares broke free, entered the penalty area and crossed to Kalinina, who calmly directed the ball into the net. In the 78th minute, Marchenko had a promising opportunity to close the gap to a minimum when she intercepted the ball near the penalty area and shot into the corner, but Samson reacted to the danger in a dive. In the final minutes of the match, the Odesa side controlled the tempo of the game and held their lead.
