On October 2, the Miners played a friendly against Kryvbas Kryvyi Rih
Shakhtar head coach Arda Turan named the following starting XI for the game: Fesiun took his place between the sticks, Karavaiev and Vinicius Tobias appeared at full-back, Matviienko and Bondar were in central defence, Kryskiv, Marlon Gomes and Pedrinho operated in midfield, Alisson and Newertton ran the wings, with Kaua Elias up front.
Dominance in play, Alisson’s goal and an own goal
The Pitmen made a bright start, creating several dangerous chances in the opening minutes and taking the lead early on. First, Pedrinho’s elegant pass put Marlon Gomes through one-on-one, but he was unable to beat the goalkeeper. Moments later, the Pitmen’s newcomer Matturro picked out Kaua Elias in the box with an excellent cross, but the forward also missed the target from a promising position. However, the deadlock was broken in the 15th minute: Alisson received the ball from Pedrinho on the edge of the box and brilliantly curled it into the top-left corner to make it 1-0. A few minutes later, Kryvbas could have levelled, but Fesiun produced an impressive save to tip the opponent’s long-range effort around the top-right corner. The visitors did find the net from the rebound, but the referee ruled it out for offside. The Orange-and-Blacks continued to have the better of the play, with Alisson and Newertton both having good chances. However, towards the end of the first half, Kryvbas scored an own goal: in the 42nd minute, a defender played a poor pass back, and Pidhurskyi failed to control the ball, allowing it to roll over the goal line – 2-0.
Turan gave everyone a run-out, Prosper completed the rout
Denys Tvardovskyi came on at half-time. The second half started with chances at both ends: Kryskiv’s effort was saved by the goalkeeper, while, at the other end, a visiting player narrowly missed the far post with an effort from the right side of the goal area. Arda Turan’s side continued to control possession and attack more. Pedrinho threatened after a corner routine, but the goalkeeper was there to make the save. Kryskiv then shot from a tight angle towards the near post, but Khoma came to the visitors’ rescue again. Matturro also had a chance when he glanced a header towards the far corner, but narrowly missed the target. Midway through the half, a series of substitutions was made for the Pitmen: Pedro Henrique, Tsukanov, Prosper, Ryan Roberto, Lucas and Smetana came on. The Orange-and-Blacks eventually extended their lead to three goals: in the 77th minute, his teammates set up Prosper in front of goal, and the Nigerian confidently beat the goalkeeper to make it 3-0. Another substitute, Ryan Roberto, could have added another, but the Brazilian’s long-ranger went narrowly wide of the right post.
3-0 – Shakhtar beat Kryvbas in a friendly during the international break.
In a week, the Miners will return to competitive action. On Friday, October 9, at 15:30, Shakhtar will face Veres away at the Avanhard Stadium in Rivne in the UPL round 8.
