The Eindhoven side also started their league campaign by dropping points, drawing at home with Fortuna (2-2), but then found their rhythm and secured four consecutive wins – beating Excelsior (2-1), thrashing Groningen (5-1) and Utrecht (6-1), before defeating Ajax (3-1) away in the latest round through goals from Pepi, Geertruida and Bajraktarević. As a result, PSV currently sit second in the Eredivisie table with 13 points and the best goal difference (18-6), two points behind the leaders.

The team captain is 29-year-old centre-back Jerdy Schouten, but while he is injured, the armband is worn by 27-year-old left-back Mauro Júnior, who has been with the club since 2017.
