Participants in the Shakhtar Social and FANT (For A New Tomorrow) project in Chernihiv and Mykolaiv received their first kits and joined a training session with Shakhtar Stalevi
On Sunday, September 27, Kyiv hosted a meeting between participants in the amputee football development project in Ukraine run by the Ukrainian Shakhtar Social foundation and Danish organisation FANT (For A New Tomorrow) in Chernihiv and Mykolaiv, and Shakhtar Stalevi, a team founded by FC Shakhtar that compete in the Ukrainian Amputee Football Championship.
A key stage in the development of the initiative in both cities was the veteran footballers receiving their first kits, which were symbolically presented by Shakhtar Stalevi players. The official strip presentation was followed by a joint training session, after which the guests had the opportunity to experience the match as fans as the Shakhtar Stalevi and Obolon Proryv amputee football teams played a friendly.

We are not simply getting together to kick a ball around, but are training with the aim of entering the Ukrainian Championship in the future
Mykola Kashpirovskyi, Shakhtar Social and FANT participant in Mykolaiv:
– I have great feelings about the event as the team are only just taking shape, so it is very important to show that we are not simply getting together to kick a ball around, but are training with the aim of entering the Ukrainian Championship in the future. In general, during the sessions, you switch off and forget about your problems, get a chance to take your mind off things, have a laugh and improve your physical fitness together with a community of veterans.

During the event, we also received our kits, which definitely gives us extra motivation to keep moving forward
Andrii Zhovzherenko, Shakhtar Social and FANT coach and participant in Mykolaiv:
– We came to Kyiv and had a joint training session with an amputee football team that compete in the Ukrainian Amputee Football Championship. The session was very interesting for us. During the event, we also received our kits, which definitely gives us extra motivation to keep moving forward.
Since the project began, three of its participants (two from Chernihiv and one from Mykolaiv) have already made their debuts for Shakhtar Stalevi at the highest level, in the Ukrainian Championship and Ukrainian Cup.
The collaboration between Shakhtar Social and FANT (For A New Tomorrow) has been ongoing since 2024 and is dedicated to the development of amputee football in Ukraine. Through the partnership, teams in Chernihiv and Mykolaiv now have the necessary conditions for regular training and sporting development.
