Shakhtar youth team entertained their Kolos counterparts in the U19 National League round 6 in Shchaslyve
Shakhtar U19 head coach Maksym Malyshev made a number of changes to the starting line-up compared with the previous match: Chympoiesh took his place in goal, Sheleketa, Mylokost, Harabazhii and Nyzhnyk were in defence, Zheliba, Hul and Kots formed the midfield, Kuriachyi and Safonov played on the flanks, with Haponenko leading the line.
A dynamic but goalless first half
The teams had barely played a minute when a prolonged air-raid alert sounded in Kyiv Oblast, forcing both sides to leave the pitch and head to a shelter. After play resumed, the Miners took control of the ball and quickly came close to taking the lead when Safonov lobbed the goalkeeper with a header, only for the ball to hit the crossbar. The Kovalivka-based outfit, meanwhile, focused on building attacks down the wings and missed a great chance to score: Savko capitalised on a misplaced pass in Shakhtar’s defensive line and, intercepting the ball, rolled it across to Sudakov, who fired wide from a good position. Soon afterwards, Kolos created another promising chance, but Savko’s effort went wide again. Both sides played open football and threatened each other’s goals, but neither managed to turn their chances into goals before the end of the half.
Kuriachyi and Kanteh secured the win
The Orange-and-Blacks started the second half more actively, immediately establishing possession in the opposition half, playing fluidly and reaching the final third, although their dangerous efforts were blocked by the opponents. Eventually, in the 56 minute, the Miners finally took the lead: Mylokost raced down the flank, entered the penalty area and rolled the ball across for the unmarked Kuriachyi, who took his chance and fired past the goalkeeper. Soon afterwards, Haponenko had an excellent opportunity following a well-worked move, but his effort lacked accuracy. The coaching staff, led by Maksym Malyshev, then made a number of changes to inject fresh energy into the game. Kanteh made an immediate impact, using his strength to win the ball from opponents and testing the goalkeeper several times before getting his reward, doubling the Miners’ lead late on. In stoppage time, the Kovalivka side reduced the deficit to one after Pavlevskyi found the net.
