26 May 2013 is a historic day in the life of Razvan Rat. And not just because today he is celebrating his 32nd birthday.

For the Romanian defender the Ukrainian championship match against Metalurh Donetsk was the last game for Shakhtar. Moreover, this was Razvan’s 300th match for Shakhtar! Symbolically, the Romanian was captaining the squad in today’s match.

After 67 minutes, he Rat was replaced by Vasyl Kobin. Donbass Arena gave Razvan a standing ovation and teammates gave him a storm of applause...

It is safe to say it's the end of the epoch. Razvan Rat has long remained Shakhtar’s last player of the once whole galaxy of Romanian players. But now it is him who leaves. Earlier, the following players were plying their trade for Shakhtar:  Marian Aliutse, Marian Savu, Daniel Kiritse, Daniel Florea, Ciprian Marica, Cosmin Barcauan and Flavius Stoican. Rat has played for the Pitmen the longest - 10 years.

Razvan, thank you!
