In the previous round, the Miners were hold to a 1-1 draw with Oleksandriia, finishing that meeting with nine men after Masalov and Chobotenko were given the marching orders. These players could not help the teammates in the encounter with Olimpik, with Ihnatenko continuing to serve a ban, as well as injured Khachaev, Zaporoschenko and Chahovets. At the same time, Valerii Bondar returned to the centre of the defensive line, as Dmytro Topalov took the position of a left back. It is worth noting that the match list included a newcomer, a graduate of the Lutsk football school Artem Dudik.

The visiting outfit sat down deep in their own half, with the Orange-and-Blacks having troubles with breaking through their saturated and mobile rear-guard. Real scoring chances began to appear towards the thirty-minute mark of the game. So, Konoplya played in Yalovenko down the right flank, as Roman played a gentle cross to the goal-area line before Hluschuk sent his header over the bar. Immediately after that, Arendaruk fired a belter at Bezkrovnyi’s goal from a few meters to force Bohdan into a save. It was he, who also saved the visitors by turning a long-ranger from the angle by Pikhalyonok behind for a corner. Following one of them, Hluschuk could notch a second, but did not hit the target from a close range. Right after that, Yalovenko set off nearly 40-meter solo run and gave a pass to Arabidze, but Giorgi miskicked a shot. At the other end, Oleh Kudryk denied a threat from Masikevich, having won that face-to-face duel. On 65 minutes, Arabidze made way for Artem Dudik, who had a chance to claim a goal immediately, but flicked his effort high from a promising position. However, the hosts doubled the lead soon: Hluschuk was barged to the turf inside the penalty area, and Oleksandr Pikhalyonok converted a spot-kick, sending the keeper the wrong way – 2-0. In the closing stages, Shakhtar picked up the pace courtesy of fresh players and forged a few more moments of danger. Hluschuk hit his header at a close range only to see Bezkrovnyi stopping the ball on the line. Kornienko, which recovered from the injury, demonstrated an active performance: he supported the attacking moves, successfully combined with his teammates and registered shots on goal. We managed to notch an opener towards the end of the first half, and after the break, there appeared more free spaces, into which we began to break and claimed two more goals. Although the rivals tried to deliver counterattacks in the second period: it was not so easy to keep pace both in defence and in attack. However, we made it and claimed a victory.

From the opening minutes, I was determined to make it, I could have put my name on the scoresheet earlier, but in one of the episodes, I missed the target. And in the moment I scored, I caught the ball with my left and fired home. I feel most comfortable on the left flank of midfield. I am aware that I have strong competitors - Topalov, Arendaruk. But I realized where I was moving to, and I'm ready for rivalry. This will benefit each of us.
In the next round on August 26, the Miners are to face Veres away.
