Shakhtar U21 coach Fernando Valente and defender Ivan Semenikhin shared their views on the victory over Lviv
Fernando Valente, head coach:
- Another difficult game. In the first half, we managed to score, which is important, but we still poorly controlled the game. Victory, of course, matters, but more important is how we achieve it. During the week, some of the guys experienced difficulties, plus it’s been hot today. However, the leading players should not always do everything themselves, as we lost many balls and the game went out of control ... It’s right that the defence did well, but we could score more goals. It must be understood that not only the result is important and that we are in the process of improvement, creation of new ideas and new team formation. We should be aware that we need simplicity of action - this is actually really important during the match. Some players operated in a confused way, which ultimately affected the team. Therefore, I think that the result is good, but not the game.

Ivan Semenikhin, defender:
- We got off to a pretty good start, scored an early one and got an advantage. The quality of the field somewhat let us down, it didn’t allow us to play fast and combination football. We must give the opponents their due because they tried to stop us in every zone. But we netted one more goal and left for the break with a margin. Before the second half, the coaches warned us that the Lviv team would attack and put pressure.
