The Miners tied with Zorya in the Premier League round 28

The match at the NSC Olimpiyskiy ended 0-0. After it, Shakhtar were awarded gold medals and the league cup.

Second draw

This is just the second draw in the history of the Ukrainian League encounters between Shakhtar and Zorya. 0-0 was registered for the first time ever. In October 2018, the teams tied 1-1 in Kharkiv.

Statistics

Shakhtar surpassed the opponents in terms of possession: 58% to 42%. The greatest advantage was registered in the opening 15 minutes (67%). The Miners’ passing accuracy percentage was also higher - 90% versus 83%. On the whole, it was an even match, and the ultimate shots ratio was also essentially equal: 12-13.

Pressure

Zorya are the league leaders for pressure intensity. Nevertheless, in the reporting meeting, Shakhtar produced a slightly better performance figure than the opponents. The final average PPDA of the Orange-and-Blacks is 10.2, that of the Luhansk side is 11.

Pyatov’s saves

Andriy Pyatov, who marked his birthday the day after the matchday, rescued the team with his saves on a few occasions. First, he parried away Khomchenovskyi’s attempt who entered the penalty area after a delivery from the centre circle, in the second half he pulled Lednyov’s set piece from the corner. Late in the game, he coped with an attempt of the same Khomchenovskyi to bend the ball inside the far post. Also, out of Andriy’s 8 long balls, 6 were accurate (in a couple of cases, the opponents got on the ball earlier).

Patrick could bring victory

Alan Patrick made his 120th appearance for Shakhtar. For the third consecutive season, the Brazilian midfielder has made over 30 appearances per season. It was Patrick who could well bring the Champion a victory, but his powerful effort just shattered the crossbar.

Bolbat’s appearance

Serhii Bolbat appeared in the starting lineup for the first time after quarantine. He habitually operated at right-back, with Marquinhos Cipriano spending the whole match on the opposite wing. In the closing stages of the match, Luis Castro gave Dodo some playing time.
