Shakhtar defender Viktor Korniienko answered the fans' questions
The online meeting was held on Shakhtar Club. The defender spoke live about his recovery progress, the support of his family, a short dialogue with Marcelo and many more other things.
About his injury:
“Recovery is going as usual. All in line with the plan. I’m glad that, perhaps, it will be possible to recover even faster.”
About his favourite player:
“I’m impressed by Marcelo's performance. He’s just an amazing footballer offensively, with incredible technique. But the player of our club Ismaily is also well known: I follow him as well, looking up to him and learning certain things from him.”
About his suggestion to swap shirts with Marcelo:
“Coming for the match against us, Real thought they would win 5-0, with a festive mood, smiles and fun present ... We defeated Real. After the final whistle, I came up to Marcelo and said: “Let’s swap our shirts? He looked at me with that kind of facial expression and gestured: there, inside the stadium building. I assumed it to be a negative answer though. I shouldn’t have approached him.”
About his character:
“In everyday life I’m very kind and calm, but in football, I guess, everyone has seen it - my grit comes to the fore.”
About the family support:
“If not for the family, maybe I would’ve been doing some wrong things, but the family helps me control myself. My sense of responsibility is higher than that of a player without a family. The family is of most importance to me.”
About his childhood memorabilia:
“My first real boots were Puma ones. My father bought them for me! They are still at my home in Poltava. I just take it very seriously, it's important to me. When I come home once every six months, I enter my room and ... Memories ... I’ve got many things left there: the whole room is packed with football equipment, there’s everything you might want. But the most memorable are my boots.”
About his plans:
“I really dreamed of making it to Shakhtar and gaining a foothold in the first team. And in the future I would like to stay here, at Shakhtar, even to spend my whole career here.”
